Very high-speed 5G wireless services are essential to meet the growing demand for streaming content. Today’s 5G “Wave 1” network is only the first step toward services delivering more than 700 Mbps. The analysis in the infographic below, based on the Shannon–Hartley theorem, details the technology evolutions that need to happen. These include support for higher frequencies, multiple antennas and the use of real 5G filters that operate with wide bandwidths and mitigate interference from other users. Resonant has developed its XBAR® resonator technology to provide 5G “Wave 2” performance in mobile devices and wireless infrastructure.
